The Jimenez Family

Tyler James...

What a joy to watch you this past year shedding your little boyhood and growing into the young adult God has prepared you to be.
You are a delight to be around.

Kind.
Respectful.
Sensitive.
Loving.
Appreciative.
Helpful.
Responsible.

So many words to describe the character we are seeing formed in you.

And while you have always been a compliant, easy child...
this year has also presented new opportunities for growth for you.
Faced with new temptations...watching you make hard decisions...
trying to stand your faith on it's own two feet.
You have taken the truth that has been passed down to you and made it your own.

We pray that this year will continue to thrust you into opportunities for faith...catalysts for your convictions...and moments of spiritual growth.

Tyler,
we are so very thankful for you and for who you are.
We are humbled to be your parents and are honored that God has allowed us to help steer your life.

We are confident that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.

And we pray that you continue to grow in the grace and knowledge

of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be glory both now and forever!
Amen.

Happy happy birthday, Tyler James!!
We love you so very much and we celebrate who you are!!!

Fall is actually drawing to a close and winter is begging to be ushered in.
I'm not quite ready to give up the glorious days spent outside...
watching the leaves explode with color...playing for hours without jackets or mittens...
spending each afternoon with a cup of tea and pumpkin bread.
But fall came and went with a flurry of fun.

My cousin's daughter, Caitlyn, came up on her fall break from college to spend the weekend with us.
Our families live on the opposite ends of the country...so she hadn't spent much time with us before.
But she was missing her siblings...and what better cure then a household of kids???

We had a good time showing her all of our favorite spots.
Discovery Place was a must.
Caitlyn wasted no time jumping in and playing (learning) alongside all of the kids!

Next up, Crowders Mountain!
Caitlyn is an outdoorsy kinda gal...so hiking up Crowders was probably the highlight of her trip.

That same weekend we had our sweet little Sophie with us.
Not sure if these two girls would have stayed alive had it not been for Jason's intervention.
They were so intent on their conversations with each other that the trail became an after thought.
Thankfully, Jason kept a close eye on them!!

The scenery on the way up and at the top was absolutely gorgeous!!!
It was such a beautiful day.

The following weekend we were invited to a hoedown.
Well, technically, it was a sweet sixteen birthday party...but it was one of the most fun parties we have been to in a long time!
Everyone grabbed their boots, hats and flannel shirts and kicked up their heels to dance.

There was a legitimate square dance caller shouting out our next steps.
Jason and I probably weren't the quickest...but I can guarantee that we were the most amusing to watch.
Jason was there to have fun...not to win any "square-dance-moves" prize...so most of the steps of the dance had his own "twist".

The kids all got their chance to dress the part and promenade home.

We allemanded left and allemanded right...and dosey doed all through the night!
So.Much.Fun.

Now winter is crouching at our door...but at least we have all of these fun fall memories to keep us warm!

Sometimes life gets busy. Really busy.
With school, serving, friends, chores, and ministry...sometimes just plain ole family time gets lost.
A few weekends ago, Jason and I decided that Saturday was NOT going to get filled up.
We would set it aside and spend FAMILY time...not doing anything else but just enjoying each other.
Once we told the kids this, Amy immediately asked if we could have a tea party with her new tea set.
Tyler wasn't really on board with that...UNTIL I added the incentive of homemade scones with strawberries and Devonshire cream.

Who can resist those temptations???

Amy was so gracious to let all of us use her beautiful set...even Hailey.
And sweet little girl...tried her hardest to figure out the proper way to hold it.
One of her pinkies was always sticking out...she just wasn't sure which one it was supposed to be!

It was a perfect little pause in the middle of our busy schedule.
Nothing beats a'cuppa!
This past September we joined several other families up at Sky Top Orchard for a fun afternoon of apple picking...football playing...donut eating fun!

We went a little bit later this season then in years past so we had to look UP for the good apples.

There were plenty on the ground that Hailey was happy to pick up and put in the buckets...even after the very LONG talk we gave about black spotted apples!

Apples are definitely the goal for the trip...but the highlight? The apple cider doughnuts!!!
The smell of fresh doughnuts energized all of us as we were scavenging for the perfect apples...and the half-hour wait was not a deterrent at all!

Then with full buckets and bellies...the rest of the afternoon was spent having FUN with friends.
We had bushels of apples that soon turned into apple bread, apple pie, apple sauce, apple butter and apple cheesecake bars.
You would be surprised how fast this family went through almost TWENTY pounds of apples!!
