There are apple orchards spread all throughout North Carolina...but something about the TOP of the mountain seems to make the apples sweeter!
And so we piled in the car - minus Daddy but plus two friends - and headed up the gorgeous fall mountains to Sky Top Orchard.
I was keeping close tabs on what apples were open for picking...and we hit the JACKPOT for pink lady apples - my favorite!!!
We had to hike quite a bit to the very back of the orchard...but once there it was row upon row of apple laden trees just ready for the picking.
The apples were so low that Hailey and Jackson were able to reach up and grab them.
Of course, the older kids didn't need an excuse to climb the trees!
As much as we love the apples - it is truly the apple cider donuts that are the big draw.
After all that hiking and hauling our apples back to the van - I rewarded to crew with these hot and fresh yummies!
