The Jimenez Family

As like most mornings, we got up long before the kids did on Christmas.
We turned the lights on...got the fire going...music started...Bible opened.
When they finally woke up (Jason has more anticipation then they do!) and came barreling down the stairs...we were ready!!

After a time of worship...reveling in the glorious mystery of the nativity...it was time to open presents.

Jackson insisted on wearing his Luke Skywalker outfit...trying to use the force while unwrapping presents!

Our little artist with her new easel.

Our cool guy...keeping his emotions under wrap!

Our sweet matching girls!!

With presents unwrapped...and breakfast finished...they lost little time in "trying out" their new things!

Their BIG present this year was for the entire family.
Jason hid clues throughout the house for a scavenger hunt...with the final clue leading them to individual presents.
Here is the big Christmas surprise....

Yep, we're going to Disneyworld!!! In 111 days (kind of diminished the excitement a little)!!!

And we cannot wait!!!!
Growing up there were certain bench marks in December.
Certain things that needed to happen to mark the passing of time during the holidays.
Cookies needed to be made.
Nativities needed to be out.
Advent calendar checked.
Candles lit.
Winterhaven visited.
All of these and more meant December was going to be a fun month.
Now having our own family, Jason and I have made some of our own traditions...
adding some along the way.

We joined some friends uptown Charlotte for the Panther's tree lighting!

We had lots of carols...

hot cocoa...

hanging with buds...

and snuggling close...trying to stay warm!

Because the Panther's are on a winning streak at the moment, Jackson decided to support them...just this once!

Lots of kids...lots of laughter...lots of fun!

It was a great new tradition!

Every year we try and make it to the Gingerbread Lane at the Ballantyne Hotel.

We met up with several other homeschool families to peruse the amazing sugary creations!

Jackson's favorite...the haunted mansion.

The girls favorite...Sugar Plum Town.

Hailey just liked hanging out with the "big" girls for the day!

Panthers Craze!

We tried to get everyone to sit still...look forward...and SMILE!!!

And then we rewarded those smiles with some yummy pizza!!

Another tradition we revisited this year was Christmas Town USA!!

McAdenville, NC is only a few miles from us and definitely a "bright" spot on the map!
The entire town is lit up for Christmas...

with music playing and people strolling through sipping hot cocoa...

it is definitely the right spot to get into the spirit of Christmas!

We usually try and make some type of Christmas craft to hang up in the house.
This year, Jason decided to take on the blank canvas and hot glue gun.

Amy takes art very seriously!!

The finished product...proudly displayed for all to see!!

Adopted from my childhood traditions, chorizo is a MUST have at Christmas time.
It is a labor of love...and usually consumed within a few hours...but so worth it!

 Last but not least....

candle lit service at church.

We are at a new church at the moment...not feeling quite like home...but thankful for the body of believers that is united under Christ!!!

So many different traditions...all leading up to that glorious day of celebration..for who He is...for what He has done...for what He continues to do!

Noel, Noel
Come and see what God has done
Noel, Noel
The story of amazing love!
The light of the world, given for us
Noel

Son of God and Son of man
There before the world began
Born to suffer, born to save
Born to raise us from the grave
Christ the everlasting Lord
He shall reign forevermore

Thanksgiving 2015
We have so many things to be thankful for...

for my cousin, Zana, coming to visit!!

When Z comes there are presents...laughter...shopping...eating...movie watching...silliness...and all kinds of fun!!!

We are thankful for...

Tyler's birthday!

Tyler and a couple of friends spent the day rock climbing.
He's past the days of themed birthday parties and favors...

but there is no age limit to brownies and ice cream!!

We are thankful for...

family coming for Thanksgiving!!!

Having lived in North Carolina for almost ten years, it is SO nice to have family close by.

My aunt and uncle and cousin game up from Georgia to join us for a wonderful Thanksgiving day celebration!

We are thankful for..

the blessing of home school!
The school year is in full swing now with math problems, science experiments, conjugated sentences...

and a couple of fun art projects to spice things up!!
The kids have been learning about Michelangelo and tried their hand at some "ceiling" paintings!

We are thankful for...

an amazing trip to the mountains!

Some friends of ours have a gorgeous cabin that they let us use for the weekend.
It was beautiful weather perfect for hiking...

playing...

spending time as a family...

enjoying the beautiful lake...

and picking up the PERFECT Christmas tree!!!

It took a LONG time to find the exact one!

We have had an artificial tree for the last several years...this was the first year we've actually gone to the mountains to pick ours out!

We finally found the best one...had it trimmed and loaded up for the drive home!

Wish I could say it fit perfectly in the house...but eight foot tall trees seem to grow as they leave the mountain top!

Thankfully, Jason and Jeremy were able to trim it down (leaving a massacre of pine needles everywhere) and fit it in the house!!

Hearts are full with much to be thankful for!!

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is GOOD!!
