The Jimenez Family

Last summer, we were able to go to Camp Nathanael for family camp.
That put a spark in all of the kid's heart for the mountains of KY...and they have been BEGGING to go back.
Throughout the year, Tyler and Amy did Bible lessons from CN.
They had seven different lessons that included a Bible reading, activities, and memorizing several verses.
They completed their lessons in record time...and then waited for summer to arrive!!!

Amy's best friend, Sophie, came to camp with her...which made it even more fun!

And Tyler's friend, Gabriel, came all the way from NC too!!
(Gabriel's two older sisters also spent a week at Camp Nathanael...that put his family driving back and forth to to CN SIX times!!! That is love!)

The numbers were down for this particular week at camp...but our kids did not even notice!!!

The speaker for the week was Pastor Tim - he is the AWANA missionary for the state of KY,
He was AMAZING!!! The kids were totally captivated each time he spoke. And the truths were directly from the Bible and applicable for all ages.

Throughout the week, Pastor Tim would hang out with the kids - playing basketball, quizzing them on their verses...or telling them funny stories.
Long after their week at camp, our kids have been quoting Pastor Tim!

My friend, Angela, and I stayed up at Camp Nathanael with the kids  - volunteering to pitch hit where needed. Little did we know that "where needed" would be so exciting!!!

Due to some sicknesses and last minute family emergencies, they asked us to help out with the petting zoo (definitely not my most favorite thing in the world!!).

Most of the animals were fairly tame...but there was one in particular that gave us both quite a scare...the dreaded billy goat!!!

The kids had fun trying to scare the fainting goats...and all in all...the petting zoo was pretty fun. It definitely provided some hilarious stories to those back home!!

Every afternoon CN has music hour. These two were on the docket almost every day.
The first song was a bit shaky but they gained confidence as they went!
It was awesome to be able to hear them get better and better...and have a great time worshiping the Lord!

I LOVE CAMP NATHANAEL!!!!
While I was technically there to serve...I really felt like I was there to just soak up God's goodness.
I love the beauty that envelopes the mountains...and the peace that completely hems you in.
It was such a wonderful treat for me to spend the week at such a treasured place!!!

And of course, joining in on the camp activities was fun too!!!

There are still missionary workers at CN that were there when I worked there...so many of my afternoons were spent catching up on all the lost time...

even if that meant I had to stuff envelopes to do it!

I was also able to meet the next generation of CN workers...just as much of a delight to hear how God is moving in them! What a testimony to His faithfulness!!!

The last day is field day...the showdown for the competing teams...

Tyler did several activities including the swim dash...

and the three legged race.

Amy and Sophie also competed in the three legged race...

and also the running race...

The week seemed to fly by...full of so many treasured memories and once in a lifetime experiences for the kids.
Each one of them hold that week at camp as the highlight of the summer...and are counting the days till they can go back!!!

We've come to Camp Nathanael and we're glad we're here!
We've come to learn of Christ our Savior dear.
We'll study the Word and pray...grow closer everyday.
And then, go home and live for Him!!

Jackson...today you are SIX years old..
Feels like you are starting to drift away from little boy and reach towards big kid!
You are the shadow of your older brother, Tyler...but the best buddy to your younger sister, Hailey.
You are crazy...fun...energetic...passionate about almost EVERYTHING...work hard..love to serve...creative...sweet...and still so very cuddly!!!

You think about things and ask some of the funniest questions!!
There is definitely a lot going on in that head of yours!

You are tough on the outside...but completely tender and sweet on the inside.
We love to hear your prayers at night...thanking God for so many of the blessings He's given you.

Jackson...your smile lights up a room! There is hardly a time throughout the day that it isn't in place.
You are a jokster and a prankster but can also laugh it up when the tables turn.

At times, you don't even know your own strength!!! We have gone through several pairs of glasses this year due to football...wrestling...and well, just messing around!
But you're still the cutest kid around!

Jackson, we are so very thankful that God blessed us with you six years ago.
We can't imagine our family without you!!
We pray that God will continue to hold tightly to your heart...drawing you closer and closer to Him!
We love you, kiddo!!
Happy Birthday!

It is always good to have something to look forward to. It is the bright spot on the horizon. When family comes to visit...it is the brightest spot of the year!!!

My parents came in July for a very special visit...and we had been waiting and waiting and WAITING for them to come!

For my dad's birthday, I got all of us passes to the Biltmore.
It was a BEAUTIFUL day to spend in the mountains...strolling the grounds and taking in the sights.

Their first time to the Biltmore!! I have wanted to them to experience the Biltmore for several years...as I knew it would remind them so much of their time living in England!

And I think that is exactly what it did!

Hailey wanted to be in charge of the map...

And they're off...

...but they had to come back for a quick photo!

The house and grounds were spectacular...as always!!

And the views were breathtaking...

After the house, we were headed to the gardens but decided to take...

a quick ice cream break...and THEN off to see the gardens.

flowers, flowers, and even more flowers!

The flowers were still in full bloom and the weather stayed nice for us to cram in as much of the estate as we could in one day.
Thankfully, we stayed in Blowing Rock that night so we could spend one more day in the mountains!

The next day we hit up a local barbecue for some yummy lunch...

and then tried our luck at panning for jewels.

We bought a medium sized bucket and then sludged through the dirt looking for anything that looked valuable..

It was pretty intense work...

everyone keeping two eyes open for anything glittery...

and while it wasn't gold...it sure was pretty!

We were all a little wet and muddy...but super excited with our little rock goodie bags!

The rest of my parents trip seemed to fly by. They were gracious to spend their vacation time helping us redo bedrooms, shop at Ikea...and just tinker around the house.
And of course there was lots of playing, laughing, snuggling, talking...and just being together.
We had a wonderful time with them and cannot wait for the next special visit!!!
