The Jimenez Family

I met this sweet girl several months ago out on the sidewalks of Charlotte's busiest abortion clinic.
She was scared...pregnant...and unsure about what to do next. Thankfully, she came on board our mobile ultrasound and saw a picture of her sweet baby.
And at that moment...she looked up and told me that she couldn't go through with the abortion.
Her sweet little one was saved that day.
We told her to keep in touch so we could throw her a baby shower when the time came.

Several months went by and we found out she was having a little BOY!!!

The body of Christ...working together...serving together...using their gifts...is amazing!
We were able to give her a BEAUTIFUL shower.

My sweet friend Nicole hosted it at her home...several of my other friends raised money for her crib...and several others went to work gathering an abundance of shower gifts.

And then another friend, who is a pastry chef, made this amazing cake for the shower!

The love of Jesus was tangible...and opened up hearts to hear the best message of all.
Thankful for the precious lil guy that was saved...God's gift of grace...and the love of His body.

This tough guy has been asking to play tackle football for a LONG...long time.
He played flag football for quite a few seasons...but it just didn't make the cut.
He wanted to "really" play football.
So we finally signed him up to play for the MARA Colts this fall season.

All summer long Tyler counted down the days until the practice started.
He would run around the neighborhood to try and get in some pre-season conditioning.

It hasn't been quite the season he thought it would be.
The position he had hoped to play...he didn't get to.
The coach that demanded respect and loyalty...quit after the first practice.
The teammates that swore to give their full effort...bailed out mid-season.

But Tyler played...and gave it his all...every single practice...and every single game...regardless of the score!

We were proud to watch him emerge as a leader on his team.
Cheering on his fellow teammates and encouraging them to make right choices.

And every time he walked out on that field - he gave it his all.
He played the entire game - every game.

His grandpa was able to make it to one of his games...which made the cheering section double in volume!

And with that extra support - Tyler scored a touchdown and several amazing tackles!!

It wasn't a winning season...in fact, the Colts lost every single game.

But for Tyler it was a growing season. A learning curve. An opportunity to prove to himself and others what he would do under pressure.

Not sure what the future holds.
Tyler would like to play another season or two of tackle...but for now...we are thanking God for the season he had...and he escaped with NO injuries!!
And so I thank the Lord...

for giving me the things I need.

The sun and the rain and the apple seeds.

The Lord's been good to me!

When the leaves start to change...and the temps drop a few degrees, it is time for us to head up the mountain for one of our favorite Carolina traditions.

Apple picking at Sky Top Orchards!!

The apples were hanging low on the trees which made for easy pickins!
With apple pie, apple bread, apple sauce, and apple butter in mind...we picked a few different varieties!

Buster came along for the ride...but after a few minutes of following us from tree to tree...

he decided it was best to find a shady spot to nap!

We ran into some friends along the way...

which made for some fun times on the playground after the picking!

The weather was beautiful and the apples were plentiful...but the hike back up the hill with baskets full was a little brutal!

But it was worth it!
A beautiful day...enjoying God's amazing creation and sweet gift of friends!!

When we talked to the kids about moving...one of the first questions they asked was:
can we get a dog?!?!
They have been asking about a dog for years...but we our backyard was too small and we really didn't want to deal with the allergies.

Well..after we moved the kids wasted little time in picking up the same question.

Can we get a dog now???

With over an acre now in our backyard, that excuse was gone.
Then when they brought up hypo-allergenic...we really didn't have much to counter with.

And so,,,we started shopping for a dog.

And found this little guy! We drove up to meet him when he was just a few weeks old...

and then came back this past week to pick him up.
He had grown a bit more...was super excited to see us again...

and already felt like a part of the family.
We all put in some ideas for his name...Bruschi...Teddy...Gronk...Brady (all Patriots names).
But we settled on Buster Brown. (thank you, Aunt Judy!!!)

Buster for short...Buster Brown when he is naughty.
Which is most of the time at the moment.
Learning to pee and poop outside has been quite the feat...but he is learning.

And he is cute.

And he is ours.
Our little Buster Brown.
