The Jimenez Family

One evening, the kids decorated the deck for Jason and I to have a fancy date night.
We were in the middle of our governor's "stay-at-home" order...other than groceries and necessities...we had to stay home.

So they brought the date to us!

They even made chocolate covered strawberries...my favorite!
Tyler brought home Viva Chicken...and the kids were our waiters...refilling our cups and plates before we could even ask!

I had come out wearing jeans and a nice shirt...

Hailey quickly remanded me back to change.
This apparently was a super fancy restaurant with a dress code!

We finished off the evening with a delicious cappuccino...made by our especially thoughtful kiddos!

I made plenty of hard-boiled eggs in order for the kids to dye.

They usually end up being the mixings of egg-salad sandwiches...so they were handled with care.

Our church wanted to do something special for Easter.
Recognizing that everyone was feeling a bit disconnected and missing being together for Resurrection Day...

so they put together a video for the service on Sunday.

A kaleidoscope of different families...

welcoming and reminding all that HE IS RISEN!!

The kids worked on this for the background of our little part in the video.

Happy EASTER!!!

The Easter-egg hunt!!

It's hard to find spots that make it challenging for all ages of our kids!

Fighting over that last egg!

Then it was time to get ready for Easter dinner!

It looks a little different this year than normal...but we are still REJOICING over the empty tomb and the sacrifice of our Savior!!!

Not long after Easter, Jason and I decided to load up on flowers and get our yard...springy looking.

While we were there...we got a text from Tyler saying he had fallen while playing basketball.
He said it was just a cut...but MIGHT need stitches.

As soon as we got home it was clear that it was no small cut.
He had fallen on the wheelbarrow while playing and it had managed to gash open his leg.
Nine stitches later, a tetanus shot, and instructions from the doctor to stay off it for awhile!!

This is what happens when Tyler can't get outside to play basketball (and when his hair is long enough that Amy thinks she can put it in a man-bun :)

He also started working on the Disney puzzle we got for Christmas.

And finished it!!!

When it was time for the stitches to come out...we didn't want to risk infection by going back to the Urgent Care...so my friend, Shannon McCrory came to take them out for him.
He made sure to gear up.

Pics through the window to keep the risk down of exposure!

All done!
So thankful for her willingness to help "doctor" Tyler!

We have some sweet friends that were planning to get married but due to COVID they are having to rethink their plans.
I was supposed to help with a wedding shower...which turned into a drive by shower.
Amy worked for several weeks perfecting some beautiful sugar cookies as party favors.

She's never piped before...but she picked it up pretty easily.

Her artistic abilities made some beautiful cookies!

In the end, we did not use them for the wedding shower.
But we shared them with our neighbors...

and Amy had some delicious afternoon teas!
Who knows...these piping skills of hers might come in handy some day :)

Hailey was counting down the days of April till we finally got to...

her BIRTHDAY!!!
We couldn't have much of a party because of...COVID...

but we decorated the kitchen with as much Frozen 2 we could find...
and covered the floors with balloons.
I should have been ready with the camera to catch her expression...but suffice to say she was thrilled!

One of her favorite presents...a karaoke microphone.

Amy and Hailey have been singing High School Musical and Frozen and Moana songs all morning long!

Later that afternoon, we told Hailey that there was something waiting for her in Daddy's office.
We had sent out an evite for a special Zoom birthday call...there were SO many people on the screen that she didn't quite know where to look first.
Friends here in NC...cousins in AZ...cousins in OR...grandparents...Sunday school teachers...pastors...and just sweet family friends.
It was the sweetest birthday call.

Happy Birthday to our sweet Hailey girl!
We are thankful for how you have pursued life with such a fun outlook...a beautiful smile...and always an encouraging word. We pray that God continues to use you to shine His light brightly!
We love you!
