The Jimenez Family

To our sweet firstborn...on the seventh anniversary of your birth.

You took a couple and turned them into a family.
And quickly wrapped our hearts around your precious little life.
Everything turned upside down for awhile...as we learned how to be a Mommy and Daddy.

But you never seemed to notice.

You turned ordinary days into days full of laughter, mischief and fun.

You turned parents...into very proud GRAND-parents!

You eased into your role as big brother seamlessly...

and quickly turned into best-friend!!!

You have always been spontaneous and crazy.

But at times, serious and thoughtful.

Your heart shows a genuine concern for others...
and a deep rooted desire to please God.

Tyler, you are loved by your family and friends.
All of who are praying for you to continue growing in the Lord and His Word.
We are excited to watch God's plan unfold for you over this next year.
And how you will accept the changes and challenges along the way.
You truly are our delight and our joy!
We love you and are so very proud of who you are.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the glorious Father, give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation
so that you may know Him better.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened
in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you,
the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people,
and His incomparably great power for us who believe.
Ephesians 1:17-19

Dear Uncle Jerry...
Sorry!
I couldn't help myself.
The bag was so brightly colored and the shape was so odd.
When I picked it up...this strange hat fell out.

Mom got a little upset...I think she thought I broke it. *gasp*
But there's just a scratch or two.
And now it looks just like new.
But where it is...I'm not really sure.
She put it in a place I can't find it!

You're such a cool uncle to leave such a cool toy for such a cool cat like me!
We have been EXTREMELY blessed by our church family at Calvary. Jason and I have often commented that we would not know quite what to do with ourselves...bereft of our family back home...if we did not have such an amazing body of believers here in Charlotte.

One of those families...the Ledweins...have recently taken it upon themselves to BLESS OUR SOCKS OFF!!! :-)

With a new baby on the way...somewhere in the near future...Jackson will be ousted from the nursery and moving up to share a room with his big brother. Tyler thought this the perfect opportunity to cash in on his longtime dream of acquiring a bunk bed. We've been putting him off for as long as possible. But now, with two boys in one small room...it was a plausible option.

Enter the Ledweins. They called us up several weeks ago and asked if we wanted a bunk bed! (Not only a bunk bed...but both mattresses, all the bedding, AND coordinating room decor!)

The majority of the family answered with a resounding YES...but this fearful mama has a wild imagination and overactive "what-if" scenarios played through my head. But...I was outnumbered and Tyler is now the very proud owner of a bunk bed.

*Amy considers herself co-owner...as she is often found sleeping in there come morning!

If that was not enough, along with the bunk bed came FOUR bags of hand-me-downs for Tyler that replenished his sadly lacking fall wardrobe.

On top of that...they asked if they could take us out to brunch for pastor appreciation month. OF COURSE! :-) That one required no deliberating on my part!!!

Then, it just so happened that Miss Jackie brought her fancy camera to lunch to see if we would be interested in snapping some family photos afterwards. Seeing as we were at the Ballantyne Country Club with all the fall colors...it was definitely a success...even with a tired toddler who had skipped both naps!

Needless to say, we have been completely blessed by this family! They are always so willing to serve in whatever capacity we need them, have made it known how much they support us, and find so many different ways to spur us on in love and good deeds.

Thank you so much, sweet Ledwein family!!!!

*Family pics will be forthcoming...once Christmas card is complete! :-)
The last game of the season. A bitter sweet day. Bitter for Amy...she is sad to see it end and sad to say good-bye to new friends. Sweet for me...a break from practices and rushing to games on Saturday morning (sorry...its true :-).

Jason was such a GREAT coach and the kids absolutely loved him! Could be how crazy he is, how excited he got with each goal, how many hugs he gave...or just simply...him! :-)
At least Amy has one good buddy from the team that she'll see at church!

While we might not have been the "top-scorers" of the league
(was there such a team?)
it was a FUN team!!!
Congrats Rockets!
Thanks for a great season!

We have been reading How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World this week in school. It was a fun book and introduced the kids to a number of different countries. We used the book for several activities...but of course, the finale was...making our own mini apple pies!

Thankfully the market was open...and we didn't have to travel too far for our ingredients!

Jackson just watched...and drooled! :-)

Fresh out of the oven...too hot to eat!

So good!!!

And we DID have cream with our apple pies...whipped cream!

We had our apple pies...and then read the book and saw the world! :-)

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Too often, it sneaks up on us...we celebrate...eat turkey...and fail to spend time truly being thankful!
So, we've started a new Jimenez-family tradition. Jason and the kids spent time last week drawing, cutting, and decorating our "thankful-tree". The kids traced out blank leaves and we have a stack of leaves awaiting us each night.
After dinner, we sit around and talk about what each one of us is thankful for. Then we write it on our leaf and tape it to the tree. It has been a fun reminder to each of us that we are incredibly blessed and need to take time out each day to give THANKS!!
The tree looked pretty sad and barren when we started...but it is quickly getting filled up. (I know...the opposite of what truly happens to trees in the fall...oh well! :-)
Last night, Daddy was thankful for BROWNIES!!! :-)

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever!

Psalm 118:1
