The Jimenez Family

Our first little girl...you had us captured the moment you entered this world.

And with each passing season...

you have continued to endear our hearts...

to your infectious smile...

 and hilarious quips.

It's hard to believe that fourteen years have passed...each adding another layer of depth to your personality.

You are a strong...beautiful young lady.
Beneath your sarcastic jokes and dry humor is a heart that truly cares for your siblings...and those around you.

Hailey and Jackson look up to you in many different ways...and you are inspiring them through your writing and your art.
We are praying that God will continue to use these gifts for His glory.
To make you stronger in your knowledge and faith of Him.

You have perfected the art of banter...especially with Tyler.
God knew that he would need you...and you would need him.
This past year has brought some different challenges for the two of you {writing class}
and we loved to watch you two face it together.

This last year has also been one of change and growth.
Dad and I are so very proud of how you've handled both.
You are not afraid to ask questions...to push back...to examine all things before resting on the truth.
And for that we are thankful.
And through you, to allow others to see Him clearly.

And while you often have a front row seat to my own failures and flops {including your birthday dessert}...

you continue to be one of our biggest encouragers.
Your notes...your hugs...your "it's okay, Mom" have blessed us more than you know.

Happy Birthday, dear one...we love you!!!

With a fresh new year ahead of us, Jason and I spent some time with each of the kids asking them some questions...
How did you grow this last year?
What was hard for you?
What are you thankful for?
How can we pray for you in 2019?

We loved hearing each of their answers...letting them share in their own unique way.
It was a challenge for Jason and I as parents also...and we are asking the Lord that in this next year He will continue to give us wisdom and discernment in parenting these precious four.
We picked out a verse to pray over each of them...took their picture...and framed it for them to have in their room
These are our prayers for 2019...

Tyler - we are praying that you will know the God of your father and serve Him with your WHOLE heart and with a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts and understands ever plan and thought.
If you will seek Him - He WILL be found by you.
I Chronicles 28:9

Amy - we are praying that you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth and to know the love of Christ which surpasses ALL knowledge.
That you may be FILLED up with all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3:18-19

Jackson - we give thanks to our God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus. That in every way you are enriched in HIM in all speech and in all knowledge.
I Corinthians 1:4-5

Hailey - we are praying the you will let your LIGHT shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16

And why were we all in Patriots gear that day...well...it WAS the AFC Championship game (which we won, of course)!!!
Christmas is over. The decorations are all put away. The toys and clothes and gadgets and all other presents have found new homes in bins and drawers and closets. The special cookies and treats that only make an appearance during the holidays are slowly disappearing. The school books are still on the shelves...the kids are enjoying every last bit of winter break...and this mama is LOVING the in-between time! It has come to be one of my favorite times of the year. After the craziness of Christmas...it is a blessing to have just wide open days to do whatever we want.
We have been...

trying {unsuccessfully} to make slime...

playing all the games we got for Christmas...

spending our gift cards...

hanging out with dear friends...

spending lazy mornings by the fire in our pjs...

being incredibly silly...(takes after her father)

trying out the new trampoline!!

And just like that...the week has past and now it's back to school!

It's not always easy living far from family. We have been blessed over the last thirteen years of living in North Carolina to have dear friends step into the space of family. They have loved and served us and spoiled our kids. But there is something to be said about the memories you share with family. Those who knew you with the crazy hair and the thick glasses. Or those who knew you as you ran around with the bros in the desert. That can tell all of the "remember when..." stories. And bring back to mind thoughts of long ago.
That is why when my cousin texted and said they might just be driving through Charlotte on New Year's Eve...I jumped at the chance to spend the evening with them. (Truth be told - I tried to get them to stay for a week!!)

Corry and Amy live in Ohio with their two kids - Maddie and Jackson.

Maddie and Hailey are the same age and so Hailey was super excited to get to play with her cousins. We spent the night talking and laughing...and laughing...and laughing some more. The kids - who had only met each other maybe once before - became inseparable by night's end.

Jackson & Jackson

It was such a sweet night together...and while we did not quite make it to midnight...it was still the BEST way to ring in the New Year!!!
