The Jimenez Family

Sweet Tyler...it hardly seems possible that eight years ago you were as small as this...
and now you have become our little man...

...that you were once (for a very short time) an only child...

...and have become a big brother
once...

...twice...

...and now three times over!!!

To think that at one time...you were just starting off learning how to play sports...

...and now...you are in there playing with the "big kids"!!!

That you once were our crazy, wild little guy...

...and have become "cool", calm, and collected! :-)

In eight years, we have seen many changes...growths and challenges...
maturing and becoming more independent...

but in eight years...you have never stopped being our sweet little Ty Ty....

...who will always and forever hold that special spot in our hearts!

We love you and are so very proud of who God is making you to be!!!
Happy Birthday!!!

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:9-11

I love Thanksgiving.
I love the food. Love the crowded table. Love the sound of children running around the house.
Love the smells. Love the conversations floating throughout the rooms.
Love the football games in the back round...and the football games in the backyard.
I love the phone chats with family far away.
Love the fellowship around the sink cleaning dirty dishes.
I love Thanksgiving.

But this Thanksgiving had me thinking. About all of the above...but more than that...
Lately, my heart has been consumed with the persecuted church.
They have been in my thoughts, my prayers...and now my holidays!

Amidst the festivities...I thought about what might be happening thousands of miles away...across oceans and rivers and streams.
What we celebrate on Thanksgiving...is longed for and anticipated and prayed for.

The Pilgrims sought religious freedom...a land in which their hopes and dreams would once again become a reality.
It was not an easy venture...many lost their lives in this pursuit of freedom.
But what I enjoy today had to come by that once hard-traveled road.

There is a Bible sitting by my night stand, several down stairs on the book shelf, two or three in Jason's office, one in each child's bedroom.
There are any number of them available to read, study, memorize...devour.
But my sisters and brothers...for fear of losing their lives...have hidden the Word only in their heart.
They have walked not by sight but by faith. They have trusted in a God that has chosen...for the time...to stay the hand of justice.
They are silent in their suffering...but the echo of their faith is reverberated throughout the body of Christ.

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
Hebrews 13:3

May this be true of all of us. That we remember and PRAY for those that are in prison...those that are mistreated. For we are all one body.
And above all...that we remain forever grateful for our religious freedom...and the freedom we hold in Christ!

Lord, we know Your heart is broken
By the evil that You see
And You've stayed Your hand of judgment
For You plan to set men free

But the land is still in darkness
And we've fled from what is right
We have failed the silent children
Who will have never seen the light

How long before You drench the barren land?
How long before we see Your righteous hand?
How long before Your name is lifted high?
How long before the weeping turns to songs of joy?

How long, how long
Oh Lord, how long?

But I know a day is coming
When the deaf will hear His voice
When the blind will see their Savior
And the lame will leap for joy

When the widow finds a husband
Who will always love his bride
And the orphan finds a father
Who will never leave her side

How long before Your glory lights the skies?
How long before Your radiance lifts our eyes?
How long before Your fragrance fills the air?
How long before the earth resounds with songs?

Oh, how long, oh Lord? Come soon, oh God
Come soon, oh Lord, we wait for You
We wait for You, come quickly, Lord, oh
Come soon, Lord

there's a new quarterback in town...

...don't let the smile fool you...

this guy is TOUGH!!!

Over the last few weeks, we have studied the life of Joseph, the slavery of the Israelites in Egypt, and the exodus of the Israelites.
While studying Joseph...we decided to make our own "shirts" of many colors!

I am either a chicken...or lazy when it comes to crafts...and so we actually didn't "legit" tie-dye. We tumble dyed them...which I think was created just for me!!! :-)

We rubber-banded them and then sprayed them with several colors.

The process was obviously taken very seriously!

The results were beautiful!!!
But as history (and the Bible) tells us...after Joseph died, the position of the Israelites turned from friend to slave in Egypt.

And the evil Egyptian Pharoh made the Israelites work long hours in the harsh sun...

making brick after brick...

after brick...after brick...
But then...

God set His people FREE!!! :-)
Hopefully...out of all this...they learned something!
(More than just how to make tie-dye shirts!)

We had been planning to load everyone up after church on Sunday and trek our way down to the beach. But with three out of six family members recovering from sickness...we decided we should stay close to home and have a "staycation"!
On Monday, we headed out to Nascar Speedpark for a day of "speedy" fun!!!

Jackson is still a bit too short to reach the pedals and steering wheel at the same time...but he did have fun trying out all the different cars!

Amy and Daddy zooming around the track!

Tyler trying to catch up!
Because it is the off season...we basically had the entire park to ourselves.
One of the workers followed us around the park...turning on whatever ride we wanted to go on.
Which meant...unlimited fun!!!

Mommy...obviously ahead of EVERYONE and not letting anyone pass!!

Jason and I took turns watching and cheering with the lil guys!

Seriously, I was born to race!!!
I probably had the most fun out of everyone!
After we had been there for about an hour - two other couples showed up.
Then it was game on! I raced with them around the track and showed my true Jeff-Gordon-like-skills!
It was very hard to climb into the pokey-ole mini-van after this experience!!!

Amy was a little intimidated by all the fast cars...this one was more to her liking!

Future speedster??

All that racing worked up an appetite...we headed to lunch at the food court.
Hailey has been eating more and more solid foods...so we gave her a french fry to try!

Jackson decided to "taste" it first!
Yep, it's good!!!

Yummy!!!

After lunch, the older kids and Jason headed back to the race cars.
Jackson and I were ready for some put-put golf!

Jackson took it quite seriously!

Look at that swing!!
Watch out Phil Mickelson...we got a pro here!

Off to find the ball...

Sometimes the best putter...is your hand!

Hooray!!!

After golf and some more laps on the track, we decided to call it a day! But as we were walking out...Jason remembered that they had laser tag upstairs.
And since we had the place all to ourselves...we ALL played laser tag!!!

Tyler was a little crazy with the laser...no mercy for anyone...even those holding babies!!!

Jackson getting ready...

The family that plays together...stays together!!! :-)
It was a crazy game of tag - boys against girls...although...the girls were at a slight disadvantage...Hailey can't quite aim when she shoots!
It was a super fun day...one that will go down in the books!
And while we weren't sitting on the sand - listening to the crashing waves - smelling the fresh salty air - we still had a great time!
