The Jimenez Family

It's hard to remember what life was like before you were here...

I'm sure it was a bit more quiet...and not quite as silly...

and maybe a tad bit absent of Mickey and his playhouse and friends...

And less reasons to be silly and crazy...

amongst family and friends...

But you burst onto the Jimenez scene with life and laughter and love...

Providing more time to cuddle, sword fight, and just have fun!

You have brought a smile to many a face and joy to many a heart...

with a random "I love you" or "You're so pretty" or "You're the best"...
you make each day a delight for us...

So today we celebrate who you are and who you will become...
and we thank God for the blessing to walk along with you...

as we welcome you to THREE!!!!
When learning to ride a bike...always take the necessary precautions for the precarious adventure ahead.

1. Put your helmet on...even before riding...just in case you fall down while "walking" the bike out.

2. Check the tires and make sure they aren't flat...

you can check again if you want to stall the learning process or if you're just nervous...

and if you really want to take your time...

"pretend" to pump the tires up while your little brother watches on.

3. When finally secure about the air pressure in your tires, have a "professional" wheel it into position.

4. Assume the proper riding stance.

5. Receive the "balance" pep talk.

6. Say a little prayer.

7. And you're off...

a little bumpy...

but with a steady hand at the ready...

and a patient, loving Daddy to guide you...

you'll be on your own in no time! :-)

I do not consider myself a writer. I love to write. I love words. I love the combination of pen and paper. I am obsessed with new journals and the yawning pages waiting to be filled. Transcribing heart and feelings...thoughts and convictions...hopes and dreams...whatever might come to mind.

There is a sense of freedom in bringing words out of hiding. A purging of heart and soul...releasing the inner turmoil or reliving the great adventure...perhaps breathing life to an intimate experience. It is bringing reality and permanence to what was once merely fleeting. Capturing it before it flits away and bringing it down to rest indefinitely.

But more than that...I write to lay hold of Him. My Creator and Sustainer. The Giver of Life. The true spoken Word. Stopping the crazy cycle of life...and sitting still...reflecting on His goodness...there is more bubbling up inside of me than can be contained. Lessons and truths. Promises of love and faithfulness. Reflections of His grace. Fleshed out experiences of His love. And when the moment is finished...the cycle begins once again...and if not captured...can soon be forgotten.

Then the Lord answered me and said, "Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets,
That the one who reads it may run.
For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail.
Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay.
Habakkuk 2:2-3

When the vision comes...write it down. It will come at the appointed time and point toward the goal. God has a purpose and a vision for this specific time in my life. He has truths that are for me to hear...to study...to learn...to live. Those truths are the catalyst for my every movement in life. Truths that define the purpose of my living out one more day. The vision might tarry...it might not come as expected. But it will certainly come. And once it has...the response is up to me.

To lay hold of Him. To capture the moment when the vision comes and make it known. To put aloud what is quietly spoken in the heart. To know the WORD not just the words. And to put accountability into action. Once it has been brought to life in written form...there is no hiding behind ignorance.

As the truth takes shape and begins to weave it's way through my heart...the desire is to then write it down, make it known...and prayerfully...live it out.

To lay hold of Him. Take the searing desire for more and capture it in it's sincerest form. To know Him better at the end of each day...

Several years ago, I started blogging. A glimpse into my little world for those who cannot take part. Inviting my family and friends to share in our daily activities through pictures and words.
As several more children joined the family...it slowly became apparent that time was scarce. Blogging slid down on the priority scale and real life took over. But because of those who cannot hop in the car and come on over...I continued. Wanting my family to "know" my kids...and not simply know about them.

But there is so much more pressing in around my heart. Truths that have been captured and are yearning to be given a moment in time. Without the outlet of teaching, I have become less accountable in my study time. And so...I have created another blog. An empty page...filled only with my bumbling and often faltering prose.
A venting accountability for those matters most insistent. You are free to stop by...and encounter my ramblings...but I must warn you...it might not always be as polished or smooth. Only unfiltered words perhaps with practical meaning.

And this blog will remain only the vehicle in which to display the reality that is the Jimenez family. :-) Enjoy...

Some friends invited us over for food, fun, and fellowship to help celebrate the fourth of July...

the food was delicious...

the fellowship was wonderful...

and we all had tons of fun!!!
Jason decided to take the fun outside and challenge the boys to some "real" basketball!
(Please note before looking at any other pictures that the rim has been lowered!!! :-)

Jason really got into the game...

um...a little too much...

that's better...including his son in the mix!!!
Even with the scorching heat...we had a great time celebrating the freedoms we are so blessed to share.

The next day, I took these thrill seekers BACK to Carowinds.
Whenever we have a season pass given to us...we definitely try to make the MOST of it! :-)

This time, we brought two of Amy's very special friends...and Jason stayed home with the younger two.
That meant...more BIG rides for the BIG kids!
And one very sick mommy...(I am definitely feeling my age on all these crazy rides!)

but they had so much fun!!

After a busy weekend...Sunday found us worshiping, serving, and RESTING!!!

Summertime is for...

being impulsive...

ready to "make your own fun" in unlikely places...

even if it is just the waterlogged pathway between two homes...

Summertime is for...

taking a storm and making it a memory...

even if you are covered in grass and mud and some unique smell when you are done!

Summertime is for...

staying in your pajamas...wrestling on the floor...with no place to go except maybe the...

pool!!!

Summertime is for...

soaring to new heights, bonding with Dad, living out loud...and perhaps getting a bit sunburned!

Summertime is for...

beautiful date nights...that are actually summer weddings.
Reliving vows, remembering all the "firsts", and being thankful for the numerous blessings spread throughout!

Summertime is for...

for dancing and singing...and maybe a bit of acting...

Bible reading and game playing...

spending time with old friends...

and making some new friends...

for worshiping a mighty big God through some mighty big giving...

and for guaranteed afternoon naps!!

Summertime is for...

opening heart and home...

and serving God's family as they serve those in far away countries.

Summertime is for...

scorching heat, cooling water parks, and beautiful golden children! :-)

Summer 2012 is...

stuffing envelopes, sharing vision, trusting the Lord, being overwhelmed by the Body, and thankful for grace.

Summertime is for...

waiting on the Lord, feeding on His faithfulness, and marveling in His love!

The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.”
The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.
Lamentations 3:22-25
