The Jimenez Family

this kid...the one that made us parents...
a teenager today.

.
humble.
loving.
giving.
 funny.
 protecting.
 growing.
hard-working.
serving.

Tyler - you are our joy and crown. we love you. we are thankful for you. we are humbled by you.

praying God continues to make you strong...firm...and steadfast.
happy 13th  young man!!!

Thanksgiving 2016 started out as a lazy morning...

jammies and snuggling on the couch.
Then we headed to some friends for their annual Pie Breakfast.

Over 100 people...with a TON of different pies to choose from...for breakfast!
Super yummy way to start our turkey day!!

Then it was time to get the meal ready.
This year, Jason wanted a fried turkey...

we were a little nervous about how it would turn out...

but it was AMAZING!!
And gone in about thirty minutes!!

After lunch, we headed to the park to work off all that turkey!

Don't let the hat and gloves fool you...it was a perfect 70 degrees on Thanksgiving day!

That night, the Jimenez men gathered around the table for a very intense game of RISK.

We were super blessed to have Grammie and Poppie Jimenez come and stay with us for Thanksgiving!
It was a quick trip with them...but we managed to squeeze in as many hugs and memories as we could while they were there!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Gratitude turns what we have...into enough.

I am thankful...for the blessing of salvation.
For the access we have to the Father.
For the unity of the body.
For redemption.
For grace.

I am thankful...for the season of life we are in.
For healthy children.
For a beautiful new home.
For God's blessed provision over our lives.
For the fruit of ministry.
For new friendships and old.
For family near and far.
For a church to call home.

I am thankful...for children that love to have fun.
For smiles and hugs.
For late night board games.
For Saturday morning pancakes.
For bike tag and other made up games.
For the freedom to homeschool.
For the gift of family.

I am thankful...for laughter.
For silly jokes.
For restoration after sibling quarrels.
For the Word of God instructing and teaching us.
For the Spirit leading us as we stumble along life's way.

I am thankful...for my best friend.
For the sweetness of marriage.
For the way we grow together.
For iron sharpening iron.
For times of struggle that lead to honest inventory.
For grace that covers all our sins.

I am thankful...for the calling He has given us.
For His mercies which are new each morning.
For this blessed hope.
For the anticipation of what is ahead.
For the joy in the journey.

With four kids, accidents are bound to happen.
We have had our fair share of those accidents.
Thankfully, most of them have been treated with a little Neosporin and a band-aid,
But not this time.

This cutie was outside playing with her siblings and ended up getting a pretty serious injury!
After a significant time in the ER..several tests later...and a visit from some sweet friends...

she was cleared to come home!
It was a scary night...that could have been much worse.

We are so thankful for the Lord's watchful eye...the love of those around us...the skill of healing hands...and the power of prayer!!
Even with a battle scar on her forehead, this lil miss is still outside once again...playing with her siblings!

Parties.
We love to have parties.
Friends around us...eating yummy food...playing silly games...and just having fun.
And having homeschool kids...with homeschool family friends...we can have those parties during the day...AND count it as school!!!

This week we had our Pumpkin Carving/Painting party.

(The Amicks had to leave early...so they just watched the fun...and took care of Buster!)

The creativity was flowing as each one decided on their pattern...

and took the knives to task on their pumpkins!

While at the other table, the paintbrushes were in motion...

creating the perfect pumpkin masterpiece!

(Painting is my personal preference...way LESS mess!!)

Pumpkin party food has to be mostly orange...with maybe a caramel apple dipping bar!! Yum!

All they guys, with their mouths full...made for a rare quiet moment.

After snacks it was time for a couple silly games.

Sticking all the candy corns up without them falling over...

and then the classic pumpkin relay!!

Pumpkin Party 2016 was a hit!
Lots of smiles...lots of yummy treats...lots of memories with special friends!!

We have not celebrated Halloween with the kids in a long...LONG time.
In fact, I think the last time the kids went trick or treating was about eleven years ago.

So to say they were exciting about getting dressed up and going door to door with their friends...would be a slight understatement!

Amy and her friend, Evie, dressed up as Leia and Rey from Star Wars.
These girls rocked the galaxy with their costumes and the force was with us that night!
Tyler went as a football player...shocker.
And Hailey was Minnie Mouse.
The cute little cat was Lillie.
And Judy Hops was our friend Ellie.

After a quick pizza dinner, they were off in search of their treats.
It wasn't long before the troops came home with bags over flowing!

Lots of smiles...lots of laughs...and LOTS of candy!!!
