The Jimenez Family

All five of us crowded into the small ultra-sound room this afternoon to catch our first peek at sweet Baby Jimenez! It was quite the production...Amy and Tyler were swiveling in the chairs, Jason was trying to get Jackson to "sit-still" and "not-touch"...and I was just trying to make sure I was completely covered! :-) But then we all looked up at the huge flat-screen TV mounted on the wall...
And there was baby!! It was so surreal to look and see the baby and know...this is my child. I KNOW I am pregnant...there is just no getting past the way I feel...but still it doesn't truly sink in until that cute little blob appears on the screen. And we even saw a tiny nose (which is the most prominent of all Jimenez features!!), little arms and little legs - they are probably more like nubbins at this stage - but we called them legs!
Praise the Lord baby is healthy and there are zero complications (unlike last time). We were all so excited to be able to see this sweet little one and now are counting down the days til we get a sneak peek at the gender!!! :-)
Dear God,

I like it when You help me in soccer.

Tomorrow I have a game and I really want to do good.

Can You help me to score a goal instead of just Ryan?

You really helped us a lot last week...

we had nine points and the other team only had six

So thank You, God, that I will be really good tomorrow.

I love You, God.

Oh and thank you for my mommy and daddy.

Amen.
We have had quite the round of sickness at our house this week. Jackson has been down and out since Sunday - and Jason joined the ranks Monday morning. It has also been a flurry of activities this week that were impossible to get out of. Needless to say, the household duties and motherhood duties were severely lacking this week!
To say I have been overwhelmed would be putting it mildly. I have looked around the house several times this week and just resorted to tears. The laundry is out of control, the bathrooms are in a league all of their own, the kitchen floors are nasty, not to mention my other two children who need to be schooled this week!!! And through it all I feel HORRIBLE!
At times its easy for me to get sidetracked and succumb to the feeling of inadequacy. To sit down and give up and give in to the pity party lurking just around the bend. But I have had this song running a theme in my mind...keeping me just above water...eyes focused on the prize and not what is around me...helping my sanity stay in check. This song has reminded me over and over again this week...this month...that so much of my life is designed for me to NEED HIM...to force me to RELY ON HIM.
The funny thing is - this hymn was actually written by a housewife. Annie Hawks was overwhelmed at one point with her household duties...that she stopped one day and jotted down these words. They became her theme...her lifesong. Later in life, they became her lifeline as tragic events tested the validity of her reliance on her Savior.
So it is in these everyday issues that I am learning to voice my need for Him. To put aside my prideful flesh and pour out my heart to Him. Who knows what events lie in my future...I only pray that I will look back on this time and say that it was ONLY because of my sweet Savior!!!

I need Thee every hour most gracious Lord
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford
I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee.
I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby
Temptations lose their power when Thou art nigh
I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is in vain
I need Thee every hour, teach me Thy will
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill
I need Thee every hour, most Holy One
O make me Thine indeed, Thou blessed Son
I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee
Shortly after Jason and I were married - we came up with our "plan" for the next several years. We were hoping for Jason to finish his undergrad while I worked full-time and then move to Charlotte, NC for him to get his masters. Once finished with school, we would start having our family.

Its funny looking back on how different the "plan" unfolded! Within two years of Jason enrolling in school, we had our first son, Tyler. This changed things up a bit! I had never planned on being a working mom. But we juggled a few things and readjusted. My gracious mother babysat Tyler while I went back to work part-time and Jason cut down his hours at school.

Five months later, after all the adjusting, we were pregnant AGAIN!!! Our precious daughter arrived bringing a screeching halt to school for Jason and work for me. Once again we surrendered our plan to the Lord and made some adjustments.

One year later, we decided to make the move to Charlotte and began to search for jobs for Jason - school taking a back seat for awhile. Six months later, Jason received a wonderful opportunity to work at Calvary Church.

Once settled with his new job, he decided to jump back into school. We had a new plan - a revised plan! We scaled back on our expenses, sold our mini-van, and hunkered down to pay for school. We were content with Tyler and Amy and started to plan what life would be like once they started school.

I'm sure its obvious at this point what happened next. We found out we were pregnant...AGAIN!!! We were surprised and a little flustered at first. But quickly recognized the blessing this sweet little guy would be to our family. Adjustments again, but thankfully Jason graduated this past May - only about nine years after we first came up with our "plan"!!!

With three children filling our home, we thought it the perfect opportunity to homeschool and jumped aboard that adventure. Last year was a bit rocky, as this budding novice took a "anything goes" approach to curriculum. But feeling a bit more confident, we committed to a second year of homeschooling.

The confidence began to waver as the first week of school started. Not in the curriculum, or the students....more so the ability of the teacher to teach in the midst of ANOTHER pregnancy!!!! Surprise for us...we are expecting baby number FOUR!!! :-)
At this point in our life, we have learned that truly God directs our paths and has our future already etched out. Thankfully, surrender is something we have learned in the past and comes a bit easier with each adjustment. We are completely blessed and thrilled to have this new life join our family. The children are offering up gender requests with each bedtime prayer. Jackson is blissfully unaware that he will be dethroned as the "baby" of the family and officially enter "middle child" stage! And mommy...is praying that sometime during the next few weeks the miracle drug will be released that completely ELIMINATES morning sickness!!! :-)

Sweet repeat...God knows our hearts and knows what is best for this family. We are thankful for this blessing and challenge and completely surrender our family to Him!
In his heart man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.
Proverbs 16:9

This weekend flew past. Most three-day weekends do!!! But we enjoyed the time we had together as a family and time with friends as well.
Monday morning was beckoning us outside...so we packed up the bikes (and the stroller) and headed to the Four Mile Greenway at Piper Glen. We did NOT quite make it all four miles...although some of us could have kept on going. But there were several collisions with bike and bush...and we decided to call it a day. Most of us had a great time...one of us is still trying to decide if this is a family outing she would prefer to miss out on! :-)

Getting ready...

A beautiful ride...

Obviously, BEFORE the crashes...

A head-on collision...

A tired, hot, hungry...HAPPY family!

We had glimpses of fall last week...but unfortunately...this week is back to normal summer weather. But since most of Charlotte has returned to school, our community pool is closed until the evening time.
Thankfully, Daddy brought home a blow-up pool earlier on in the summer. It was just what we needed this week to help us cool off!
Jackson just wanted to water the grass...the entire time!!!

So serious!
