May 2020

In May...we were STILL quarantined.
What we thought would last a few weeks started to stretch on for countless days.
Thankfully, this guy kept us laughing and playing games and looking on the bright side of things.
We celebrated his 41st birthday on Cinco de Mayo.
Sadly for him...the sushi restaurant was closed...due to COVID.

But tea and scones saved the day.

This was Amy's present for Jason.
A beautiful painting of the verse 2 Timothy 2:20-21
Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

Every single person in our home is blessed because Jason is a man of honor. He daily lives his life as an example to us of obedience before the Lord. I am so thankful that when Amy wanted to paint something that would be special for him...this was the verse that was picked.
Happy Birthday to our favorite Mexican! We love you!!

Not long after his birthday, we celebrated Mother's Day.
This was my present from Amy...I Peter 3:4
You shall be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious to the Lord.

Amy is so talented in art AND writing!!

Quarantine certainly has brought out the crazy in my kiddos...it was always there just needed some time to come out! :-)

This is Fonton Bontine and Fonton Bontine Jr.

Performed by Jackson and Hailey Jimenez

They definitely keep us laughing!!

When quarantine first started, my ladies Bible study moved online.
We were studying the book of Mark.
After a few weeks of quarantine, the church put out an email asking if there were other ladies that would like to do an online Bible study.
The response outnumbered the leaders...and so I agreed to lead another Zoom Bible study.
And then...a friend of mine asked if I would help her lead on another day...so Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays found me in front of the laptop sharing the Word with some beautiful ladies.

Amy thought she would put her talents to work and invest in the younger two.

Jackson and Hailey were given a class in story writing and art.
And of course it was....OUTSIDE ;-)

We spent several nights outside enjoying bonfires and s'mores...

and stories definitely seem more funny when they're told by the fire!

The summer started to stretch out in front of us with a big word written across the top:
CANCELLED!!!

Hailey's volleyball season: cancelled
Tyler and Amy's first overseas mission trip: cancelled
Hailey and Jackson's kids camp (Hailey's first year): cancelled
Tyler and Amy's youth camp: cancelled
VBS: cancelled
Summit: cancelled
Jason's travelling engagements: cancelled
Trip to CA and AZ: cancelled
And all of the small everyday get togethers that would normally make up our summer.
We all were struggling with disappointment and trying to be grateful that we had good health and each other.
And then we heard some great news...our trip to Hilton Head - NOT cancelled!!!
(we actually got the green light the day before!)

Needless to say, we were SO ready to be on vacation and out of our house.

Especially if it meant being at the BEACH!!!

One of our favorite places!

We celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary while on vacation.
Jason and I rode our bikes to the tip of the island and met the kids at The Salty Dog.
And then pedaled as fast as we could home (without getting lost!) to beat the oncoming storm.

The weather was so nice while we were there that we were able to take a bike ride almost every afternoon.

This guy showed up almost everyday for our daily bike ride.
Wishing us a "good afternoon" as we rode past.

We spent the mornings at the beach...came home for lunch...rode our bikes to get a treat...then back to the house for a movie and dinner...then back to the beach for a sunset walk.

Jason made up a new game this beach trip.
He's always so creative!!

Such a WONDERFUL week at the beach!!!

When we got home from the beach we had a few nice days left before the summer heat descended.
One Sunday morning, we decided to do church outside...Pastor Alex with a serenade of birds chirping!
