June 2020

Amy and I snuck out one morning to run errands...AND to get Krispy Kreme!!!

We have now lived in our house for four years. There is SO much we love about this wonderful house...but one of the things we DO NOT love is the kitchen.
There are so many things that need changing...and it can be a bit overwhelming to think of tackling them all.
But with COVID shutting most everything down, we have a bit more time on our hands.
And Jeremy - Jason's brother who is a general contractor - was willing to take on the job.

First, all of the tile had to be taken off of the upper part of the cabinets and the backsplash.

Then a platform had to be built for the new farmhouse sink.

Ta da - one thing checked off the very LONG list!

And a new light fixture for over the kitchen table - and you can see our paint choices on the back wall.
Still trying to find the perfect color.

In the midst of disarray upstairs, I had my Ukraine team come over for dinner and a Bible study.
I was so excited for this team to have the opportunity to go on a missions trip together.
I honestly was thinking it was the DREAM TEAM!! And I'm sure it would have been if we had been able to go!

We had a fun night of food, laughter, games, and study in God's Word.

Then it was back to the house...Jason and I had to go to several stores to pick out the perfect flooring.
Yep, we decided we might as well get new floors on top of the kitchen remodel.
Needless to say its a bit of a mess upstairs!

Jeremy took out the counter tops to get ready for our new ones.
He also took down the cabinet next to the sink - our friend, David Bass, will make some open shelves!

(and nasty stains)

And our kitchen with new floors...AND new countertops.

Then Jeremy started working on repairing the sheet rock and starting the back splash.

He had to create all new cupboard doors after he made the new platform for the sink and got it installed.

This girl has had a sudden interest in shopping lately...NOT.
She has never been one that enjoys shopping or errands but she's quick to volunteer to come with if that means she can squeeze in a bit of time behind the wheel!
Every bit counts...and eventually adds up to sixty hours!

Jackson put on a performance for us one Friday night of the Good Samaritan.
Love his creative spirit.

The kids have been asking to go to the pool almost every day.
It is HOT!!!
But rather than head to the pool - the kids had a water balloon fight with their friend, Kenna Bass.

Don't be fooled by that cute smile...these kids were very aggressive with their arsenal! :-)

Do you spy a work truck in the back ground? Uncle Jeremy is working hard on our kitchen!!!

For Father's Day, each of the kiddos made Jason a card and bought him a gift card to one of his favorite restaurants.

They are all looking forward to their special Dad-date.

The righteous  man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.
Proverbs 20:7
Our kids are so blessed to have a father that walks in integrity and leads them so faithfully in the Word.
This has been a hard year so far...full of disappointments and some anxieties...but I am so thankful that Jason has kept us grounded in the Lord.
Looking to Him as our hope and our anchor.

Hailey has been playing quite a bit with her Barbies...and she was bemoaning the lack of a Barbie dreamhouse.
(Something all Barbie's need in order to survive!)

Amy was gracious (and creative) enough to build one out of cardboard for her!

One night in June, the four of us got together to say farewell to our dear friend, Jenny Bruce.
Jenny was the very first friend I made here in Charlotte when we moved.
Her husband was attending the same seminary that Jason was and we met at a lunch hosted for the students' wives.
Their family is moving to Atlanta, GA in order for her husband to take a pastoral position.
Jenny will make the perfect pastor's wife!!! So excited for their family!

Our friends, the Peppers, have their own printing service and made these shirts for Amy and I.
Perfect for walking in the summer HEAT!!!

Speaking of heat...this kid is finally allowed to wear shorts while working.
Which is a huge relief given how hot it has been AND having to wear the mask ALL day!!!
We love visiting Tyler while working...

and it provided a mask for these crazy two!

Our governor has now mandated that masks MUST be worn in every public place.
(I doubt this was what he had in mind!)
