Dr. Norman Geisler

When Jason and I were first married, money was pretty tight.
Like most newlyweds, we only had enough for the necessities...food, rent, utilities, car, etc.
Paycheck to paycheck - month to month.
But also when we were first married, Jason was trying to establish his apologetic's library.
And more specifically, every single book that was written by Dr. Norman Geisler.

Dr. Geisler was Jason's favorite author on apologetics.
So Christmas and birthday presents were mostly books.
And one year, I even splurged and bought the entire systematic theology series!!

Fast forward a few years...and quite a few books later...and we were praying about moving to Charlotte, NC so that Jason could STUDY under Dr. Geisler.
We took a trip out east for the Apologetics Conference and Jason was finally able to meet this man who had helped shape his love for truth!

We moved to North Carolina the next year and Jason enrolled in seminary.
That same year, Dr. Geisler announced that he was retiring from Southern Evangelical Seminary.
So Jason took a risk...one that would come with an incredible reward.
He asked Dr. Geisler if he would be willing to mentor him once he left the seminary.

Almost ten years later, Jason and Dr. Geisler published two books together.

In those ten years...he became a spiritual father to Jason.
He challenged him...prayed for him...encouraged him...and inspired him

He invited Jason to travel with him and speak at various different events...which allowed Jason to see time and time again his integrity and love for people.

He was truly invested into Jason's life -
taking him to breakfast or lunch and listening to all that God was doing.

(Asking Jason to help him with a new phone...signing into his computer...
anything having to do with technology!)
Acting as a sounding board for new ideas Jason might have.
Or as an iron sharpening him and readying him for what might be next.
Their friendship took on the embodiment of Proverbs 13:20...
he who walks with the wise will become wise.

Countless conversations Jason started with, "Norm said..." or "as Dr. Geisler would say..."
The many years of faithful, godly living was having a harvest of righteousness in my husband's life and in his own ministry.

This past week, Dr. Geisler passed away.
I am so incredibly thankful for this man of God who so lovingly impacted Jason's life
(and in turn all of those he has influenced)..
for how he lived his life as an offering completely spent and poured out before the Lord.

Since God is infinite and wise, He must be infinitely wise:
This is called omnisapience.
So as applied to God, wisdom refers to His unerring ability
to choose the best means to accomplish the best ends.
